If you go with an unlicensed contractor because you believe you’re getting a much better deal in terms of the price you are paying for the work, it is a costly mistake. Unlicensed contractors may be more than likely to use the old “bait and switch” scam. They’ll lowball you with a quote, only to send you a change order request as the job begins with items that were either not in the contract or “not found” while they were giving you an estimate for the job.
